Restoration Appeal
A rare chance to see
Barrow born
Chris While perform with her
daughter
Kellie While to help raise
funds towards the much needed restoration of our local landmark
the Sir John Barrow Monument which stands on Hoad Hill

Kerfuffle
July 12th
When we saw this talented young four-piece
perform at Brampton in 2006 we were
absolutely blown away and were determined to get them to come to
Ulverston. Kerfuffle are an absolute must see and draw their
inspiration from both traditional and contemporary music to
create their uniquely appealing sound. The future of Folk Music
is safe in their hands.

Last Orders
September 6th
Local lad Joe O’Connor and
his exciting new band have just won the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk
Award. Many will remember this talented melodeon player
appearing in Ulverston as one half of One Too Many.
“Last Orders: they have a
maturity of style that belies their youth - a sound that is
greater than the sum of its parts and best of all a joy in
sharing their music with others.” John Tams

Kevin Brown
October 4th
A blues player of
immense talent "What singles him out is his storming slide
playing and the quality of his voice" Ken Hunt, Folk Roots.
We love his latest album
Tin Church and the first track "Lancashire Blood on a Texas
Floor" is tremendous.
But don't just take our
word for it here's what Dire Straits frontman Mark
Knopfler had to say about him...
"Kevin Brown
is a fabulous steel guitar player and offers a lot more than
your normal steel guitar merchant"

Les Barker
November 1st
What
can we say...professional idiot Les is simply brilliant and went
down such a storm at his last two visits to Ulverston we just
had to get him back for a third. Les Barker writes strange poems
and comes from originally from Manchester, but he's now Welsh.
He's written 76 books, which sell in large numbers at his gigs
because people don't quite believe what they've just heard. His
poems have spawned a number of folk heroes: Jason and the
Arguments, Cosmo the Fairly Accurate Knife Thrower, Captain
Indecisive and Spot of the Antarctic, to name but two. But be
warned...several members of the audience of his previous gigs
here laughed so much they were in pain and were still heard
laughing a week later!

Anthony John Clarke
(and
Band)
December
6th
Christmas
Night Special
(Buffet
Late Bar Fun)
This promises to be a
great evening with AJC and his band.
When they played here earlier in 2006 everyone wanted to know
when they were coming back to Ulverston. In a land of
songwriters, Anthony John Clarke is the one most deserving of a
wider audience.
His
songs are fantastic, revealing a genuine feeling for modern
Ireland that is not clouded by silly sentiment. The lyrics are
poetry set to music. He is a genuinely warm
and witty person and establishes a fantastic rapport with the
audience.
